DYNO GRAPHS

Dyno results can vary greatly depending on the experience of the operator. We really prefer to feel seat of the pants on-road results over a graph on a piece of paper, however some of our customers have had their vehicles dyno'd to confirm the results they were already feeling with the DPChip. All the dyno graphs below are completely independent of us and have been sent to us by our customers. You be the judge. We think the results speak for themselves. Look at the dyno graphs below and you can see the power gains are fairly consistent throughout the graph. They clearly follow and mirror the factory curve shape. We believe the manufacturer knows best for the vehicle so we don’t want to 're-map' or change the curve we just want to increase it consistently throughout the rev range. Thanks to Andrew at Diesel Tech in Lilydale for supplying a number of these dyno graphs. Diesel Tech have their own dyno. Andrew is an experienced dyno operator and diesel technician.

This dyno was sent to us by Taipan XP exhausts one of our distributors in QLD. The guys at Taipan are very thorough and check every vehicle they fit to on a dyno before and after fitting of their exhaust system. Their exhaust system reduces engine temps by around 80 deg C on average meaning they can chip a vehicle and ramp the power up well over normal levels but bring the EGT down to safe levels with their system. The readings were taken after 3 mins at full revs without Taipan exhaust fitted.

The graph to the left shows:

* The lowest reading is the vehicle on standard at 600 deg C

* The next line is with DPChip set on our standard setting of 5. EGT is 660 deg C

* The next line is with DPChip set on 9 (maximum) and the EGT is 660 deg C. Still within safe levels.

* The next line up is with another diesel chip (not the DPChip) set at 70%. Power is improved but to a dangerous level. EGT is 737 deg C approaching what would be considered a maximum safe level.

* The final reading is with the other diesel chip (not a DPChip) set on 100% (maximum). The Power is only slightly higher but the EGT is well above dangerous levels at 765 deg C.

It is clear from the dyno chart and EGT readings that the DPChip is set well within safe parameters. Thats why we can confidently offer a full engine and drive line warranty on new vehicles. Unfortunately you get what you pay for with most other tuning chips ie. a simple over fuelling device which increases the EGT to dangerous levels pretty quickly. Always insist on DPChip for peace of mind.

"Howdy,
Before Christmas I had a DP37 fitted to my Golf, and had it dyno tested.Coming from a 3.5 Magna with extractors, UNICHIP, ported & polished heads, I must say I was quite surprised to see it punch out 103.3kW (138.5HP), given the Magna put out 172HP. The only other changes are a straight through stainless steel rear muffler, and deletion of the front resonator. The result is with the position selector on 3, so possibly a couple of more neddies available with a higher setting.

Put simply, it has made an already fun to drive car, even more enjoyable.The only downside, is you have to watch your speed, as it gets away from you very easily.

Finally will have a chance in the next 2 - 3 weeks to have a proper long distance run, from Brisbane to Dubbo, so will have a chance to test out the economy side of things with the cruise control set for 100.

The attached dyno-graph is from my Toyota Hilux 3L Intercooled Turbo 06/2007 model.

I recently have completed extra work to it to improve its performance.

It has done 28,000km.

1st run was factory standard = 79kw at the rear wheels

2nd run was with 3 inch exhaust + K&N Filter = 94kw at the rear wheels

3rd run was with 3 inch exhaust + K&N Filter + DP Chip on setting 7 = 107kw at the rear wheels

There is a massive improvement overall, with a 36% increase in power.

I have found that I prefer setting 5 more.

It appears to have slightly more power at low revs but slightly less at high revs.

My personal preference was more grunt down low than up top.

The DP Chip on setting 5 was still 101kw, but at just above idle, it had 6kw more power than setting 7 giving more bottom end grunt.

I am very pleased with the outcome, so are the guys in the dyno shop!
